The spot in Djerba

Everyone can have a great time kiting in Djerba. With a long, wide beach stretching away down wind, there is plenty of space
to safely learn kitesurfing. We make good use of this area, as
the first of your skills are learnt on land. It doesn’t take long though, before you’re in the turquoise kiting zone in front of
the hotel.
Depending on the tide it will be shallow up to 20 to 50m out,
with a sandy bottom. The water is a perfect turquoise, and if you’re lucky you’ll even be joined by dolphins. For your safety, the boat is always ready.

The temperatures in spring and autumn are perfectly com-
ortable around 22 –23 degree, and with a full wetsuit, winter
isn’t out of the question either. If it does get a bit chilly for you, and your staying in the Mövenpick or Radisson you can take full advantage of the Spa area to warm up.

Wind and waves
Most of the time it’s constant cross-on from the right, but if
the wind should swing onshore or the swell and shore break
get too big we have an alternative teaching area in the next lagoon we can use for beginner lessons. If there isn’t enough wind we can even continue lessons on a mountain board on
the large beach.
In winter the winds tend to pick up a notch, with 12 – 25
knots from the northeast regularly hitting the shore. A small groundswell then makes the spot appealing to more advanced sailors.

During the summer Djerba is particularly safe for kitesurfers as
the wind tends to be less strong.

The center
The Skyriders center is to the left of the completely renovated and very impressive Radisson Hotel SAS Resort & Spa. The Mövenpick Hotel is also only three minutes further down the beach. The hotels are particularly suited to family kiting holidays as both have excellent kids clubs.
The centre has been generously designed with a lot of space, including changing rooms and hot showers.
