Kitesurfing is a fascinating sport, but a sport that involves certain risks.
These risks can be avoided, if the sport is practised in a safe and responsible manner.
The most important thing is to learn the basics from experienced, qualified instructors at a professional centre and to continue to keep them in mind. Doing your own thing is not to be recommended.
We want you to learn to kitesurf without any accidents and we want the sport of kitesurfing to make further advances through people like you, who act in a responsible manner; this will prevent further restrictions and bans being imposed on this sport.
For this reason, we respect and teach the important safety rules both in theory and practice and emphasize their observance.
We underpin our instruction with the latest and safest equipment and accessories, so that you can combine fun and a high degree of safety on your way to becoming an expert!
SAFETY RULES
- Never sail in gusty, onshore winds.
- Use a functional safety release system.
- Only enlist help from a qualified person when launching and landing.
- Keep a minimum safety buffer zone (60 m) between yourself and downwind objects when launching and landing your kite.
- Check the local weather report before kitesurfing.
- Only kitesurf in wind conditions you can manage. Carefully check the wind conditions and take note of built-up shore zones, wind changes etc. Make sure you select the right kite size for your skill level and the wind conditions.
- Always check your equipment for possible damage before going out on the water.
- Wear the right clothing. Suit, booties and helmet protect against injury! Wear a helmet whenever you have a board leash!
